Canal Winchester is a growing community, rich in history and small-town charm. The village has a growing population of 5,800 people. Its residents take care in maintaining the area’s historical integrity. Winchester is the home of the last covered bridge in the county. The Prentiss School, the Chaney Mill Elevator and the Train Depot are three other historical landmarks within the village.
Winchester’s educational system is committed to preparing its students for college, technical schools and the workplace. Canal Winchester High School was built in 1993 to accompany Canal Winchester Middle School, and two new elementary schools were added in 1998 and 2000. Canal Winchester also has a branch of the Columbus Public Library 5 miles away, as well as the renowned Wagnall's Memorial Library 2 miles from town.
